Fresh off the successful landing of JCSAT-16 OCISLY is preparing to voyage back to sea to land the AMOS-6 booster, piping hot after freshly baking in the oven like heat of a GTO return. Will the landing be a sweet confection like a rich chocolaty Famous Amos morsel? Or will it end in a unceremonious milk like dunking in the ocean because that's just how the cookie crumbles?
Lets hope for the former and that the crew bobbing out in the wavy Atlantic not toss their cookies waiting for the landing attempt!
IMPORTANT NEW GAME TWIST
Due to improved landing accuracy and to ensure a fairer attempt for all players at the most important center squares, this bingo iteration will have a shotgun start.
Only picks placed after 1200PDT, (1900GMT) August 29th 2016, as logged by the board will count.
That is more than 24 hours from this game announcement post. That means a land rush, so accurate clocks, alarm setting and game play must be considered as editing your pick after placement is still not allowed. So if everyone immediately goes after the same center square not everyone is going to get it and by the time you refresh the board or look at the scraper it may be too late, so tactically picking other than the absolute middle at the outset might be the better option ;)
Except for the shotgun start... the game remains exactly as played in prior iterations. If its not broke don't fix it. :)
- CRS-8 ( http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=39977.0 )
- JCSAT-14 ( http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=40219.0 )
Pick your square, one per player. Closest square to the center engine when it comes to a halt gets the prize!
This includes post landing walkabouts!
No prize for fireballs, debris, cookie crumbs, or damage on deck!
If it hits the ship, goes kaboom, punctures holes in the deck, falls over in transit, or splashes down in the sea, there is no winner. Only a booster standing tall and triumphant as the ASDS sails into the harbor will generate a win!
Water squares are meaningless, if falls in the sea, no winners - no prize. Feel free to pick a water square just for "I told you so" bragging rights if you wish! ;)
This thread remains the official record of who chose what square when. For that reason any edited pick post is invalid.
Use Dan's scraper to see which spots have gone:
http://asds.dansdoorway.com
NOTE: There may sometimes be a slight delay of a few minutes at most between scraper updates, so check the last few posts before yours too, just to be sure. Scraper is operational as of this edit. Thanks to DanielW for setting the scraper up, it helps a lot!
Judging is by me, Helodriver. I expect once again there will be many photographs and video of OCISLY sailing back into the harbor to help determine a winner. Maybe even a helpful rocketcam, helicopter or drone shot or two :)
Winner gets a SpaceX artifact, and a bag of cookies, because Famous Amos.
(Famous Amos brand cookies logo used entirely without permission ;) )
Good luck SpaceX, Good luck AMOS-6, and Good luck to NSF readers!

I like this new twist!
Edit: This was a test. There is currently a 4s lag between when I click post and when it is registered by the server as being posted... will need to keep this into account!

1200 PDT is:
12:00 pm, Noon, Pacific Daylight Time
1:00 pm Mountain Daylight Time
2:00 pm Central Daylight Time
3:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time
1900 UTC is 8pm in the UK. 9pm in Central Europe.

The scraper has been reprogrammed to handle this rule change. Please note that it refreshes automatically only once every ten minutes. So you are on your own for a bit, unless Helodriver refreshes it manually at more regular intervals in the early going.
Please PM me if you notice any bugs as a result of the new code.
-
The scraper makes this game so much easier as it is, so this isn't a criticism, but...
Now that you know the start time, in the future, maybe you could do updates every 3 minutes for the first hour, then every ten minutes the rest of the 1st day, then only hourly after that. Essentially scaling the updates to the expected traffic.
Thanks for your efforts as it is.

Open for selections in three hours.

Have the unfortunate coincidence of an appointment at two... so I guess I am going to sit this one out. Good luck to everyone :D
-
There's no way that I can wake up at 3 am here just to get to the lotto. :P
Well, my square isn't a favorite choice so I can only hope that it isn't chosen by the time I wakes up..... :-X

So much for the shotgun start. Only 15 with timestamps of 1:00, and ~50 within the first two hours.

We're picking squares on JRTI and the booster will likely land on on OCISLY.

O-18, hoping for a little bounce to slide her into my spot!

That's true. Fortunately they have a very similar shape. And if their shape matters to this contest then the rocket likely didn't land successfully anyway.

Storm track for TD Nine looks to give this a rough go (if launches on the 3rd).. I'm guessing it will skitter off to the side again.. if it lands at all.

Given the shotgun start, is it maybe time for the first listing (in a post) of those who have tried to make a selection and yet don't have a valid selection on the board?
I know you can pull this up from the scraper, but I hate to see such an announcement the day before the scheduled launch. A lot of people assume, I think, that their selection went through; it's nice to give 'em a heads-up earlier rather than later. :)

And AMOS is now famous for the wrong reason. :-\

I hate burnt cookies...

Missed the landing bingo thread. :-[
Then it turns out the whole thing is called off because, well... :'(
-
Perhaps it's time to lock this thread since the Amos-6 LV exploded on the pad.

I guess a Static Fire bingo to see where the payload might drop would be a bit too evil...

Yes it would.

How about we leave these bingo picks for when the Return to Flight occurs?
