Huh, yeah, okay, sure...

For all of us who forgot, this show originally premiered in fall of 2017, so in seven years it has produced three seasons, for a total of (I think) 36 episodes. That's not a lot.

Maybe they will approve a new season (this guy says two seasons), but I remain really skeptical. The show has been off the air for several years now. The sets have probably been destroyed, although maybe some stuff went into long term storage. The economics were never that great. It was an expensive show. But also, there are some really big hurdles to overcome. The first is that Seth McFarlane was never available enough for the show that he supposedly loved, and his involvement in writing every episode meant that it happened really slowly and they didn't make a lot of episodes. The other problem is that bringing back the cast won't be easy.* Maybe they don't all have other jobs, but once actors have been off a show for years, they get other commitments and bringing them back is difficult and can be expensive.

*As an actor on the show explained, they had contracts that committed them to appear in a certain number of episodes. But it took a long time to make those episodes, and they could not work on other jobs while working on those episodes. So imagine that you signed on to make 12 episodes and thought that would take six months, and then it stretched out to 12 months. You are now making half the amount of money over time than you expected. I suspect it was even worse than that, because I think they were committed to multiple seasons, so they spent three years making two seasons and they could not book any other work during that time. She sounded a bit bitter by the entire experience, and I suspect that to bring her and others back, the show would have to include other contract provisions to assure them they won't get dragged around again.

But wait... there's more!

The same guy who just a few days ago said that there are going to be two new seasons, now says that there won't be two new seasons, but instead will be a TV movie.

(Okay, he also says that he doesn't believe the rumors. And he contradicts other things he said the other day. Maybe he's not a reliable narrator?)

Or maybe he just wants you to like his videos??  Nothing to see here, move along.. 8)
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine - however, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are
going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead.

Oh, I'm familiar with the ecosystem of YouTubers who claim to have insider information about what is happening in Hollywood studios. There was (is?) a channel called "Midnight's Edge" that back around 2019-2020 kept claiming that Kathleen Kennedy was about to be dismissed at Disney. Because there's a whole population of Star Wars geeks who hate her and think she "ruined the franchise," they just ate that stuff up. But how long can you keep posting YouTube videos yelling "Wolf!" before people start to suspect that there is no actual wolf? Kennedy is still at Disney, and the people reporting/expecting/hoping for her demise have probably gotten exhausted by now.

I don't know anything about this guy, but claiming one thing one day and then coming back a week later and claiming the opposite doesn't help his credibility.

I'm not really that interested in The Orville anymore. It was okay when it was on, but it always seemed like watered-down Star Trek: The Next Generation to me. But I do find these repeated rumors of its imminent revival to be interesting, just like I find stories about The Bermuda Triangle to be interesting.

Unfortunately YouTube indeed has several channels that outright try to milk on rumors related to stuff like Orville, The Expanse and Stargate. How this and that source indicates new season or new series (in case of Stargate) is happening, or not happening etc.

It is all garbage. If there was actual concrete plans in motion, proper sources would report it. Not some two bit YouTube channel that seems to be bent on making a 10+ minute video out of a sentence or two, of very very unverified rumor.

Don't get hoodwinked by these channels.

I agree with you in general. However, with "The Orville" I think things are a little different. Seth McFarlane has a lot of projects underway, and I suspect that he would like to see "The Orville" continue. I also think that he keeps telling the people that he works with "Yeah, I'd like to do it some more." So there's people around him who are keeping the embers warm, hoping they will see a flame. Now that the second season of "Ted" has wrapped production, I bet people around him are speculating that he's got time to pursue "The Orville" again. I'd add that I've seen one person who was involved in production of "Ted" imply that this is what is going on.

But Hollywood is filled with proposals for new shows and movies. That makes it possible for people to say that something is "in discussion" even though it has no actual funding.

I just happened to be watching Star Trek Enterprise Season 3 with the family last night (it's been years!).  It was fun to see him again on the screen, even if only briefly and not a starship captain.  :)

This story is on repeat: "Something is about to happen. Nothing happens. Something is about to happen."

Update: "Something is about to happen. Nothing happens. Something is about to happen."

I'm not convinced that this guy isn't making all this up. He may be a fabulist.

Update to the update: There's nothing new on The Orville. But looking at this guy's channel, and looking at his topics indicates that he mostly focuses on unconfirmed rumors, and those things seem to just go on and on and on, no matter what show or movie he is talking about. I think he hopes that his watchers forget that months earlier he reported that something might happen "soon." It's all rumors, no news, and it doesn't seem like any of the stuff that he has been "reporting" on actually happens.

And a May 13 update to the update to the update: Yeah, here he is again reporting that nothing is happening, after he previously reported that it is about to happen. That's been the story with this show for a few years now. Does this guy just make this stuff up to drive his YouTube channel, or is he just reporting rumors that circulate among the faithful? Doesn't matter.

"Something is about to happen." Nothing happens. "Something is about to happen this time..." Nothing happens. "I really promise that something is about to happen..."

You can count how many shows this guy has done on "rumors" that The Orville is about to be renewed for a fourth season. And now he's saying--surprise!--that it probably won't happen. You know, in order to have some credibility, you actually have to be right once in a while...

Matthew Cushman did this illustration of the interior of the ship. Unfortunately, it is too low res here to fully appreciate it. There is a poster version. A few years ago he showed this to me as a work in progress for a book about the show. There is some clever trickery in here. Not all the decks are parallel to each other. Some are at an angle. If you assume that the gravity is generated in the floor, you could have the floors at different angles and "down" would still be towards the floor. But making the transition from one angle to the next is the trickery part. You have to look close to see how he did it.
