Somebody made a BSG-style opening intro for Space:1999 - just thought I'd post it here:

The irony of that is that the 2004 Battlestar Galactica show actually borrowed from Space 1999 by showing shots from the coming episode in the opening teaser.

I was never much of a Space 1999 fan. I liked the ships and the Moonbase and that's about it. But if you like the show, there's a convention in Burbank in a few weeks.

My forum avatar description is of this show that I grew up watching as a kid. That, along with viewing the Mercury program, is what inspired me to become a lifelong space fan. Thanks for posting that; I might pick one up.

Figures, my wife will be in LA that weekend and I have to stay home and mind the animals. (It’s an ungood family matter, so she won’t exactly be having fun, either.)

There are not a lot of people who worked on Space 1999 left. I am not sure how they are filling a 3-day convention. I'm sure the guy who produced the documentary "The Eagle Obsession" will show it there. And there will probably be a lot of Eagle models on display.

I thought as it was all regions it would be of interest to all fans wherever they are on here.

Based upon my posts here, you might assume that I'm a big fan of Space 1999. I'm not. I'm really mostly a Trekkie. But I liked the Moonbase and the Eagles. And this cover art, done for an early issue of Starlog magazine, was fantastic.

The Gerry Anderson company makes some really nice merch about their shows. I only have their Space 1999 and UFO books, but I've seen some of the rest and it's very high quality. If you're into this stuff, you should look into their store. They also have a bunch of YouTube videos showing off their merchandise.
