I just got a copy of the fall 2023 issue of Air & Space Magazine. A few years ago they came off the newsstands and became a member only magazine for members of the Air and Space Society. The magazine is smaller, fewer pages. I don't think it looks as good as it did in its heyday, when it had a lot of original stories and photographs (I worked for them in the late 1990s). But it still looks pretty good. Here are a few images. The commercial lunar article is well illustrated although those are almost all press release images, not original, which is something magazines do to keep the cost down.

Now that is a good choice for a cover photo. It has drama and mystery.

Of course, it's still pretty dark...

BIS celebrated its 90th birthday...
As most of my colleagues prefer the more elaborate "Space Chronicle" magazine and leave the "Spaceflight" on the side... Hope they'll reach a century !

Never even heard of Space Chronicle, and certainly never seen it in the shops.

Interesting that they phrase it "but booster, spacecraft lost", given that it was in the mission profile from the very outset that neither ship would survive.

Saw the latest BIS Space Chronicle at a friend's home... what was a great quality magazine, still is but has become so thin in pages and two months after publication is still not available online...
I have written more than 100 articles for the BIS Spaceflight magazine but these days asking a question via the BIS website generates an automatic response:
We endeavour to respond to you within two working days. - The BIS admin team.
Well it's coming up to twenty working days, what's happening to the Society?
Don't know if the BIS will last that long to celebrate their 100th birthday in 9 years... I hope so...

For awhile SC looked great and had good content. I have not seen it in a few years and cannot comment on the current quality.

Alas, I wrote dozens of articles for them over more than two decades, and then they wouldn't even treat me with the most basic respect. I'm not angry about that, I'm just sad.
