STS-34 possible aborts?
« on: 03/26/2014 09:07 pm »
Does anyone know what situations Franklin Chang Diaz is talking about that almost led to aborts on STS 34?

Franklin Chang-Diaz said they almost aborted the flight in orbit three times because of malfunctions, but ended up pressing on. The alternative was landing in a Senegal airport with the nuclear device, which could have sparked an “international incident,” he said.

The reports on L2 do show there were some anomalies, but I don't know if any were sufficient to consider an emergency deorbit or something.
