Doesn't matter.  If NASA prefers NASA, that should override style guides, since it's a literal quotation of their name.

Its different than discussing Radar vs. MRI, for example, which are generic names.

If they wanted it spelled naSa, that's their prerogative.  Like ke$ha.  Live and let live.

 Seems like there's a point when an acronym is so widely used and so well known it becomes a word.
 I think NASA might have done that to the point of not getting in a twist when somebody types Nasa.

What about another famous acronym that has become a name.
QANTAS (Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services),
now commonly just "Qantas".

I am part of the problem mentioning LEGO but if this devolves into a general acryonym thread it's probably outlived its usefulness.

I don't think the search is up to that level of distinction... no case control offered in advanced search.

Even more fun !

On some of their own publication outer covers, for instance, "Space Mathematics" ,a resource for teachers,EP-92, it is all in lower case characters, national aeronautics and space administration 😃
