Interesting to note that the GlobalSecurity.org is using the Shi Jian 11-02 designation also for the Shi Jian-12 satellite launched on June 15th, 2010: http://www.globalsecurity.org/space/world/china/sj-12.htm.

Probably this was their initial understanding that was never corrected.

I agree with that. The nature of both missions are quite different.

I'm assuming SJ 11-03 will have a mission profile similar to SJ 11-01.

 China's Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on Tuesday said it will lauch an experimental orbiter in China's Shi-Jian satellite series in coming days.
The orbiter, SJ-11-03, will be boosted by China's indigenous Long-March II-C rocket at an appropriate launch window, said a press release provided by the center.

The northern drop zone in central Qinghai would correspond to the first stage; the southern drop zone in NW Sichuan to the fairing.

As of now, the U.S. reports one object in the orbit:
* inclination -- 98.21°
* perigee -- 701 km
* apogee -- 723 km
* period -- 98.81 min.
Orbit is essentially the same as for Shijian 11-01. Local time of descending node is 10:45.

The Stratcom Catalog has 4 additional debris C to F
Quote
37730      SJ-11-03      2011-030A
37731     CZ-2C R/B     2011-030B
37732     SJ-11-03 DEB     2011-030C
37733     SJ-11-03 DEB     2011-030D
37734     SJ-11-03 DEB     2011-030E
37735     SJ-11-03 DEB     2011-030F
From Chinese source, they appear to be 4 retro rocket fairing tops (反推火箭整流罩封头) with a size of 21 x 20 cm. The retro rockets are attached to the second stage and are used for payload separation.
These 4 additional objects have already appeared with various CZ-2C-III launches; they should be identified as CZ-2C DEB rather than S/C DEB (as was rightly done for SJ-11-01 or YG-6).

Ah, but as I just pointed out to myself, the launch video clearly shows it's daylight during the launch. So the Xinhua piece is in error, I assume.
