Coming up on about 100 minutes to "T-0" for the 61st anniversary of the launch of Sputnik 1. 4 October 1957, 19:28:34 UTC. It was all just a multi-century dream until then.
Here's Gunter's photo of the Sputnik 1 launch. Most sites associate an incorrect launch photo with Sputnik.
