Howdy,

Nice job with the videos! A suggestion: when the ftp start to tax too much bandwith do consider putting the video-content on a BitTorrent server. And if it's permissible, put a collection of videos to some public torrent site, like torrentspy.com. Having it there might get another geek or two interested in space stuff.

Ho Tap-Sa, welcome to the site :)

Yeah, that would be a good idea...I'll have a look at that site.

We'll be fine for quiet a while as the videos are actually on a seperate specialised server we bought (as in the news site and forum are on dedicated servers, but the video FTP has it's own 'purchased in' server by our web people).

Also, I think once we get enough videos on, I'll seperate them into threads for Apollo, STS etc.etc.

Lots of new videos going on tonight. I've pulled some videos and keeping with the factual/historic ones.

If you still want to see the videos that we've pulled, PM me and I'll direct you.

Thanks for the video section. Some very nice stuff so far!

A section devoted to engine ignition closeup videos would be neat (assuming there are enough still available). The ones from the Saturn V's were incredible.  Any from old or new boosters might be worth posting, too. (The Delta4 ignitions are lots of fun to watch!)

I remember running across a few videos showing slow motion closeups of the Shuttle SRB ignitions with the hold down bolt cuts several years ago that were really interesting. (Unfortunately I never bothered saving any. :( )

Some of those videos can be seen here:

http://www.spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/index.html

Enter shuttle only, and video only, and then search. They come up on the very first results page.

Welcome to the site. Thanks for the kind words. We'll be getting in a lot more videos from a lot of different places over the coming days. We're just working on something on the FTP section, which not only will remain free, but will also be opened to ALL users on this site, including non registered users - as part of our mandate to open up all space flight media to all interested people for free.

Thanks. That was the SRB video I remembered seeing.  :)

(Interesting puff of blue flame as the LH2 pipe is disconnected at liftoff from residual gas burn-off.)

I may sound like a cheerleader here, but this young site is doing really fine work for helping expand the interest for space flight to the general public. It's got a very nice balance of being clear with presentation, allowing those of us who wish to speak within the industry on issues we want to talk about, while having the likes of this video page for people who may just be getting into the subject field.

It's very sharpe, not overrun by ads and fancy flash videos, yet has the cool factor. I'm very impressed by Chris and his team. It doesn't feel like a brand new site which it still is.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks, much appreciated by all concerned.
