SpaceX and NASA are targeting Sunday, October 31 for Falcon 9’s launch of Dragon’s third long-duration crew mission (Crew-3) to the International Space Station (ISS) from historic Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The instantaneous launch window opens at 2:21 a.m. EDT, 6:21 UTC, with a backup opportunity available on Wednesday, November 3 at 1:10 a.m. EDT, 5:10 UTC.

Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage will land on the “Just Read the Instructions” droneship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

During the Crew-3 mission, NASA astronauts Raja Chari, Tom Marshburn, Kayla Barron, and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Matthias Maurer will fly aboard the Dragon spacecraft, marking the fifth human spaceflight mission SpaceX has launched since May 2020.

The webcast for the Crew-3 mission will go live about 4 hours before liftoff.

Doug is continuing downrange with Just Read the Instructions droneship for Crew-3.

Very difficult to tell from tracking but I think Doug is still towing JRTI.

OG towing pro tug Finn Falgout is following along just incase they need to take over.

Amazing what a day can do. #Crew3 checked out #Endurance in the @SpaceX hangar last night before pad roll-out & now it’s at @NASAKennedy atop launch pad 39a where many @NASA_Astronauts started their journeys to space.

Yesterday we saw our @SpaceX Endurance capsule in Hangar 39A. This Sunday we will be launched to the @Space_Station from the same launchpad as the Apollo astronauts who travelled to the Moon. It's surreal and humbling, but also, rockets are quite heavy

SFN reporting test window 🪟 opens at 1:00 am EDT = 0500 UTC.

And, that venting is visible.

Static Fire at window open?

Edit: T-20 minutes venting observed.

Will NSF Fleetcam observe the Static Fire?

SpaceX Completes Falcon 9 Static Fire Test in Preparation for Crew-3 Launch

Danielle Sempsrott Posted on October 28, 2021

In the early morning hours on Oct. 28, the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that will launch the Dragon Endurance capsule and Crew-3 astronauts to the International Space Station surpassed a key milestone ahead of launch. While standing on the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A in Florida, the rocket’s nine Merlin first-stage engines roared to life for seven seconds, completing the routine but critical integrated static fire test.

The Crew-3 mission will carry Spacecraft Commander Raja Chari, Pilot Tom Marshburn, and Mission Specialist Kayla Barron, all NASA astronauts, along with ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut and Mission Specialist Matthias Maurer to the space station for a six-month science mission. Liftoff is targeted for 2:21 a.m. EDT on Sunday, Oct. 31.

This is the third crew rotation flight for the agency’s Commercial Crew Program, and the first flight of a new Crew Dragon spacecraft. More details about the mission and the Commercial Crew Program can be found in the online press kit, or by following the commercial crew blog, @commercial_crew, and commercial crew on Facebook.
