We do have simulations on this, and we're in the process of putting out numerous papers in several different journals. And again, we're not necessarily saying our machine will be sufficiently better than Sandia's. For starters, we don't expect to come close to achieving breakeven, and we're not claiming we'll achieve that. Our primary goal is to investigate Li-D reactions and its applications for propulsion due to the scarcity of research on that subject. The results obtained from this research can then help Sandia and other labs achieve their own research goals. They in turn can help us from whatever they uncover. Again, collaboration is vital for fusion research.
Ok, that does sound reasonable. Thanks for the info! I think that should be on the contest project description though.

I went and voted. Looked at some of the other proposals on the website. Man, there is some real nonsense on there...

Would the lithium deuteride be fed into the Charger-1 as a dusty plasma like in a dusty-plasma fission fragment reactor?
