Ken: Dragon refurb process.  Wind constraints.

Jessica: Reflight similar. Qualify.  Thorough inspection -- especially TPS.  TPS has to be replaced each mission,  Hardware is usually good for reflight.

Plan is to only use refurbished Dragons for rest of CRS contract.

Upper levels winds are constraint base.

James: How many launch attempts with cutout and Soyuz activity?  Do you also see reuse for future of spaceflight?

Kirk: Expect to launch tomorrow, but things can happen.  Launch attempts on 12 on 13.  Final one before beta is the 15th. Three launch attempts before Beta cutout.  Then it's 25th of December.

For reuse: Business of space is dominated by launch coast.  Getting coast down is important for everyone.

Working with NASA since Jan.  Equivalent risk established.  All groups meeting for several months.

2 weeks before launch was when the decision had to be made.

NASA went off on their own to come up with what they wanted to see for Falcon 9 reuse.  NASA put on constraints.  Only single reflight agreed to. Only a CRS-like mission is where that booster could come from.  Decision was made so finely.   Re-flgiht Readiness Review (RFRR).

NASA was so late making decision because RFRR came in so only allow official decision.

New booster could have effected the launch date.

Stephen: Commercial Crew and engines.

All 9 engines are from the CRS-11 mission.

Kirk: Flying to space is difficult.  Flying humans is even more difficult.  Dates have slipped as expected.  We have dates and are prepared for those dates to slip.  While we want them to fly as soon as possible, we don't want them to fly before they're ready.

We are not in discussion with Russia in regard to additional flights.

Deal in January and exercised in Oct. to allow NASA astros in first half of 2019.  Various options if needed.   But confidence in launch dates for Dragon and Starliner are increasing.

Good discussion of debris.  in 19 years, only 23 COLAs have been needed.

Reflown boosters are not sent back to Texas for test firing.

Three day phasing to Station is orbital mechanics, not Soyuz undocking.

Berthing dates are tracked because of bio-samples on board that need to be maintained.

Both 12th and 13th launch dates are 3-day phasing runs to berthing.

How many Dragons are there?

Jessica thinks they have 7-ish.  Some original ones were only going to fly once.  Starting on CRS-8, significantly ramped up the salt water resistant nature of Dragon to aid with reflight.

After flights, each Dragon goes to Texas for refurb testing.
