NASA Old Venus Lander proposals
« on: 11/20/2019 10:00 pm »
While the URSS was in full swing with the Venera project, was there any concept proposed to NASA for a Venus lander to compete?

I found a lot of concepts from Magellan onwards, but none from the old period. Do you know of any?
Enjoy the ride

The only US lander I know of is that one of probes from Pioneer Venus 2 survived for one hour on the surface in 1978.

Akin's Laws of Spacecraft Design #1:  Engineering is done with numbers.  Analysis without numbers is only an opinion.
