Author Topic: External Tank 94 (ET-94) to complete Endeavour exhibit  (Read 86813 times)

Despite the rescue of the Maximus crew, there's been remarkably little coverage of ET-94 here in San Diego.  It's tied up at the 10th Street Terminal and there's a good view from the observation pier at Cesar Chavez Park.  I thought maybe there'd be at least some curious onlookers, but there was only one other photographer when I was there this afternoon.  The harbor police stopped by and asked if we knew what the thing was...  I sure hope it gets more attention up in LA!

For what it's worth, I can say I saw ET-94 today by air, sea, and land.  Overflight photos above; A friend of mine took me out on a sailboat this afternoon, and we were able to come right up alongside the barge:

The Shannon Dann got underway this morning around 7:30 PDT and is just outside San Diego Bay at this time.

This morning, about 10 miles off the coast of La Jolla.

They're using nearly a quarter mile of towline!

Ahoy! I haven't posted in a while, but I'm watching from my apartment complex on the marina. :) ET tank sighted! The crane/gantry is set up over by Fisherman's Village. I unfortunately only have my camera phone and my binoculars, but feel free to use/modify any photos I post in this thread in an NSF article.

I tossed all the photos/videos from my phone this morning in original resolution in a Google Photos album, NSF granted full rights to use.

The tank has been off-loaded from the barge and is on the parking lot next to the temporary tent for the Friday evening party prior to the initial tow at midnight Friday.  Public can come over to view but are restricted by a fenced off area.
