The epic STS-115 onboard handheld cam reentry video brought me here and made me sign up for L2 on day one. Been here ever since :D

I found NSF when I searched for information about STS-114 after the PAL ramp issue, wanting to know what the "inside word" was.  I found this site, lurked here and then signed up later.  I've been a space nut ever since my childhood and teens (back in the 80's) and this is the go to site in my mind.  I wish NSF.com and the 'net had been around then, I would have eaten it up.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

Back when space.com changed owners/management/ whatever, a year or more ago, and they deleted their forums, I went looking for another source of space oriented forums. I suppose it was a google hit, but I don't really remember.

I wasn't looking for space news, just forums. The only time I look at the news side of NSF is when Chris posts a link to a new article.

In short form, Wikipedia's Space Shuttle article > Wikipedia's DIRECT article > directlauncher.com > NSF's DIRECT forums. That was in July 2008 if I remember correctly (although without anything to post, I did not sign up until just before STS-131).

Was searching for something and came across a ridiculous post by a FUD spreader about Delta II being a crutch.

I was following Orion (then CTV) developments and this website scooped, by many weeks, that the SM was not going to use methane/lox. I think I was visiting for a couple months prior, but that story was definitely what hooked me, and once it was confirmed from other media outlets I had confidence in the content.
Thank you Delta II & ICESat-2!

Google pointed me to these forums after much searching for info about falcon 1 launch 1 preparation and schedule.   All those mysterious and unexplained delays (to someone with only spacex.com to look at) had me very anxious, and nasaspaceflight had the only cure in town.  Did not join forums until latter.
Remember: if we want this whole space thing to work out we have to optimize for cost!

I have to say, I can't recall how I found this website.  I just know that it was around STS 115 or STS 116.

I  had most likely googled after information about STS-116.

This mission was particularly notable to me since it was the first time a Scandinavian astronaut has visited space.

Was searching to see if there were any decent alternative to the ARES system.  Found direct and then NSF.

Found the site in when looking for some info on RTF following Columbia. Signal-to-noise ratio got me to sign up the same day.

Was googling sea dragon in 2007 or so.  The thread on this forum was more educational and informational than any I had yet come across.  Actually, the old Mars Society forum had some interesting stuff too, but it disappeared a few years ago.

... so, in a way, we have this FUD spreader to thank for the fact that we have Jim on board....
 :o ;) ;D

Edit: and oh yea, I linked here some time from the space.com forums. Don't think I've ever gone back there....

Someone linked to this from another forum. I think it was Bad Astronomy and Universe Today.

Space.com and other science forums' discussions kept referring to it.  Around '04-05 or so.

Looking at the "view last posts" feature, it looks like Jim made a comment about Lego rockets within 4 days of his first post here.

During a Shuttle mission press conference, the reporter said he was from NASAspaceflight.com

The rest is history.
