Movie related to the Indian Space Program
« on: 04/02/2021 02:32 am »
A new movie arrives in June about the Indian aerospace engineer who introduced liquid fuel rocket technology to India and helped design and launch the "Vikas" engine used in India's PSLV rockets as well as the strap on boosters for GSLV.

He was falsely accused, imprisoned and tortured extensively on fake charges of "espionage". He finally won a full pardon and 2 years ago was awarded the "Padma Bhushan", India's third highest civilian honor.

Lots of shades of Sergei Korolev in his story. A man, who was falsely accused, imprisoned, tortured and still came back to serve his country with patriotism.

The movie is being released in Hindi, Tamil and English. The link below is for the English version

With the renewed publicity on this case, the Supreme Court of India has ordered a new investigation. The case has now become more interesting. It is now being alleged that the case was filed on the behest of foreign countries to delay India's space program.

Key takeaway from the CBI (India's version of FBI) investigation: "..had this case not been filed then India would have developed the cryogenic engine 20 years back. The scientists were arrested, humiliated and tortured. They were not allowed to carry out any sensitive work, Raju also said. This was done at the behest of foreign powers and we suspect that a false case was foisted against the scientists.."
