“The GSAT 24 will be ready for launch by this November/December or next January. The other two satellites GSAT 20 and GSAT 22 are under production,” Sivan added.

The GSAT 20 to be launched by Indian rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III (GSLV Mk III) will be fully propelled by electric power. The satellite will move from the geostationary transfer orbit to geosynchronous orbit with electric propulsion.

NSIL is now looking to launch GSAT-20, GSAT-22, GSAT-23, and GSAT-32 in 2022:

K Sivan, secretary, DoS, said: “...We are already in advanced talks for GSAT-22 which will be for another major DTH provider. Aside from this, customers have been identified for GSAT-20, 23 and 32 but we cannot reveal the names at this juncture as the talks are still at the initial stages.”

Stating that all of them are likely to be launched in the coming year, Sivans said that the satellite for the DTH provider may happen as early as the first quarter of 2022. The GSAT-24 is expected to be launched in February.
