any suggestions for good books on the math of alcubierre (warp) drive?
if possible not to expensive.

While there might not be a great answer to this, I think you first want to read his original article maybe, see the pointers [1,2] at the  UPDATE thread. Then, maybe something on relativistic physics? Maybe the book from M. Alcubierre himself Introduction to 3+1 Numerical Relativity? Alternatively, not in book form, How to become a GOOD Theoretical Physicist has chapters on, a.o., special and general relativity.

PS1: Better book pointers welcome :)

The book Time Travel and Warp Drives: A Scientific Guide to Shortcuts through Time and Space contains information about the Alcubierre warp drive, especially in Chapter 9.
