Sugarhouse Aerospace

Today Sugarhouse Aerospace, based right here in Utah, is scheduled to launch a suborbital rocket with several payloads from Spaceport America, New Mexico. It was started earlier this year by a BYU grad and came to my attention from postings with the Christa McAuliffe Space Center in Utah Valley. Here’s a Deseret News article about the endeavor:

The Sugarhouse Aerospace Facebook page will have a webcast starting in less than 20 min (9:30 am Mountain).

A second launch attempt was also scrubbed due to an issue with the launch tower. They’ll try again after New Year’s.

Update: COVID shut everything down after New Year’s of course. There were several updates on the Facebook page, they were testing motors as late as January 2021. That’s when the last post was. And when I checked the website it’s no longer there, that is not a good sign. A Wix.com “not connected to a domain” page showed up instead.

Also when I googled Sugarhouse Aerospace a result for a lawsuit involving them came up. I didn’t understand the legalese involved, but Sugarhouse was the defendant and the last item on it was dated March 16, 2021.

Sugarhouse Aerospace rebranded earlier this year to Evolution Space (https://www.evolutionspace.com/).  We have fired several test motors this year and are well on our way to flying our next mission in November.  This will be a subscale test flight scheduled to just scrape the Karman line at 105km.
