For anyone thinking this may be copying another launch provider:

Quote
This is not a copy! When recycled, the middle engine(2st engine) has a smaller rated thrust, thus reducing the ability to variable the thrust. At the same time, you will find that the design of the landing leg is different, especially in the case of expansion.

So now we know ;)

Interesting configuration. Looks like four large engines and a small engine for landing between them. That's two different engines they need.

2nd stage engine could VAC version of landing one.

Well, that would make three different engines. The Merlin-Vac engine is substantially different to its sea level counterpart. I remember someone saying they have only 20% common parts.

Bob Zubrin got a front-row seat to an apparently successful free-flying hop of RLV-T5 (NewLine Baby).

Thanks Dr.@robert_zubrin . The Case for Mars inspires us to do our job. We are going to do the second free flight and recycle test this month. Also, there's a lot of people in China keep a close watch on Falcon Heavy's second flight and the dynamics of StarHopper.@elonmusk

Most small LV companies think mass produced ELVs are way to go. This RLV will be going head to head with RL ELV Electron. Time will tell which is better path.

The LinkSpace LV will still be competitive in expendable mode so they have both bases covered. They can still use RLV lessions for  building larger RLVs.

While Electron might be to small to use as RLV its multi engine design means it could still be used as test RLV. Gives them an option if they need to follow competition.

The fold-out legs on their first-stage in the graphics seem familiar somehow...I can't quite remember where I've seen them before.  :-)

I'm surprised it's taken this long for someone in another country to try to copy SpaceX.

It's like the beginning of flight.  Once the Wright Brothers did it, and many people thought the photos were faked, etc., it was only a matter of a few years and anyone could endeavor to repeat the feat, with variations on what the Wright Brothers had shown as an existence proof.

Of course everyone else can repeat known human technology that has been shown to work.

ALL technology stands on the shoulders of the people and teams who developed the previous versions of that tech.  New fundamental innovation (like landing orbital launch vehicle boosters was a type of the same thing, with Falcon 9 in Dec 2015) especially so.

So of course others can, and will, follow.  And should!

Kudos to LinkSpace!

Re arguments from authority on NSF:  "no one is exempt from error, and errors of authority are usually the worst kind.  Taking your word for things without question is no different than a bracket design not being tested because the designer was an old hand."
