The Intrepid is a fine museum - I've visited several times - but the pavilion is too small for Enterprise and too large for Intrepid. I think Enterprise should go to the USAF Museum near Dayton, in the huge Space/R&D gallery alongside several X-planes which flew at Edwards.

If I had my way, I'd have OV-103 Discovery go to Dayton as Discovery was going to fly the AirForce missions out of Vandenberg..  But if I really had my way, we'd still have an operational STS. To witness an STS Orbiter Vehicle  SpaceX Starship vehicle perform an on orbit rendezvous and docking. That would have been quite the spectacle.  OK back to reality.

Space Shuttle Enterprise Paving the Way on Launch Pad 39A | May 1979

In May of 1979, the Space Shuttle Enterprise sits atop Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center. This significant event is part of the critical fit checks and preparations necessary for the shuttle program's first orbital flight, which would take place nearly two years later with the Space Shuttle Columbia. Enterprise spent 3 months on the pad before being transported to California.
