Hurricane Milton: I resurrected an old infographic of mine and thought I would share it so folks could understand the science of nature's fury. In my part of the world, we call them cyclones, they may spin the other way but their paths can be equally destructive. God bless and be safe.

There is tornado activity on the approaching side of the hurricane.  Hopefully, they or others who get generated will miss the Cape.

1:54 AM | A rare and historic event is unfolding across parts of east central Florida. Preparations should be near completion! The tornado and flooding rainfall threat are rapidly increasing this afternoon well ahead of landfall on the Florida west coast.

The best indication of the seriousness is when Waffle House closes its stores:

For those of you who are not familiar with the NWS nomenclature, a tornado WARNING means that an actual tornado has been sighted. This is not  just a general caution. This is also why the map shows a bunch of specific areas. The whole much larger area is under a tornado WATCH.

NSF has one screen devoted to NWS radar, which is focused on the Cap area. The RED polygons are Tornado Warnings.

It’s time to shelter-in-place from #Milton. Tropical-storm force winds, flooding rains, and tornadoes are spreading inland across FL. Unless a life-threatening situation arises, stay indoors and follow updates.
