Author Topic: H-IIA-202 F48 - IGS Optical-8 - January 12, 2024 (04:44 UTC)  (Read 42761 times)

Offline Galactic Penguin SST

Per NHK the launch is scheduled on January 11, 2024, to be officially confirmed.

The launch vehicle arrived at TNSC in July. This is the 3rd last H-IIA to fly.

It also means the 2nd H3 rocket is very unlikely to fly within 2023 - as previous reports all point it to still launching within Fiscal Year 2023, a Q1 2024 launch seems very likely.

Edit: Launch date confirmed by IGS operator, the Cabinet Satellite Intelligence Center, with launch window at 04:00 - 06:00 UTC: https://www.cas.go.jp/jp/houdou/pdf/231113sate.pdf

The launch has slipped to January 12, 04:44:26 - 04:45:29 UTC, due to weather conditions (the forecasts for T-0 is fine, but not at rollout time with possibilities of thunderstorms and strong ground winds).

Thanks, Steven for the coverage.  I got the hang of the post from Twitter.  Now I know how Future Space Travel does his posting.

Japan's space launch is a lot of waiting, a short period of excitement, then waiting again for confirmation.  I need some Sake now.

As a general rule, the launch is only observed using the Mark-I Eyeball...

H2A rocket No. 48 was successfully launched from Tanegashima Space Center. At Eminoe Observation Park, which is the closest to the launch site, applause broke out as the aircraft rose steadily, leaving a white wake in the blue sky. Will this serve as an impetus for another challenge with the new core rocket H3 scheduled for February? ? “Soon the universe will be ours” (Tanegashima Bureau)

The MBC stream was able to track the vehicle up to fairing separation, which could be seen briefly flashing as they fell away!

Maybe a cold glass of Sapporo beer would be good too.
