Per FAS we know now:
- It was not a DF-41 but a DF-31AG
- Image is from the Sep 25th launch earlier discussed in this thread
- Based on geo-locating launch position was determined in the north-western part of Hainan island about 30km north of Wenchang Space Center

According to amateur footage, a launch was carried out on the Xichang Solid launcher pad (usually used for KZ-1A and CZ-11) around 5pm on October 10th, by comparison from a similar angle with the July KZ-1A launch , it does seem similar in diameter, while shorter, possibly a DF-21-derived missile (although maybe my scale estimate is wrong since some on chinese networks claim it is more of a DF-31-derived missile).
Xichang previously hosted ASAT DF-21 tests.

Interesting!
I have followed the discussion in the Sinodefence forum which was scattered over various threads. At first a very strange NOTAM for Oct 10 was issued which indicates multiple launches. For XLSC they gave as launch date Oct 12. Another related launch was from JSLC Oct 11.
