Now, there are strong hints that this end of month to July launch, is some commercial event involving  Singaporean mini-satellites and the PSLV.  Not the SSLV-D1!.  If so, what is holding up the SSLV, is it technologically very challenging, or is it something to do with the dispersal of personnel and funds, complicated also by Covid?  Keeping in mind that the SSLV was first confidently projected to go up in 2019.

Belated cross-post; my bold:

Quote
Dr Jitendra Singh today gave the details of the upcoming ISRO space missions planned in 2022 in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha as follows:
      a) 2 Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) missions including 1 dedicated commercial mission and 1 mission for launching the EOS-06 earth observation satellite
      b) 2 developmental flights of ISRO’s Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)
      c) 1 Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) mission for launching NVS-01 navigation satellite for NavIC
      d) 1 communication satellite mission (GSAT-24) through procured launch for commercial customer
      e) 1 Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle – Mark III (GSLV Mk-III) mission, which is a dedicated commercial mission

Apparently, this SSLV now launches in July, following the PSLV launch on June 30?
Please come and witness the launch of PSLV-C53 on Thu, June 30, 2022, at 6 pm LIVE from the viewers’ gallery at SDSC-SHAR, the Spaceport of India. Register at https://lvg.shar.gov.in/VSCREGISTRATION/index.jsp  between 10 am on June 23 and 4 pm on June 28. Covid-appropriate behavior solicited.

Isro to launch SSLV by August, says senior scientist

Quote
New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), India’s central space agency, will be launching its Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) within “the next one or two months", said Victor Joseph, associate scientific secretary at Isro.

Quote
The development of Isro’s SSLV was delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic, which led to its launch being deferred. In April this year, union minister of state for space, Jitendra Singh, had said that the SSLV could be launched by the third quarter of 2022, after its initial launch timeline of end-2021 was scrapped.

From PSLV C53 post-launch press conference: SSLV launch will most probably happen by end of July. Targeting 3 SSLV launches in this financial year (i.e. 04/2022 to 03/2023).

Someone at the press conference should have asked what the cause of the long delay of the SSLV is. Anyway, good news that the launch should take place at the end of July. Eagerly awaiting!

I guess SSLV would be "gifted to the nation" on the occasion of 75th Indian Independence Day ;)

It should be before that!  Sometime in the window of July 25th- August 5th.  Then dedicated/gifted to the nation on August 15th :)

“For communications satellite AzaadiSAT, we worked together with 750 children from 75 schools across the country. A majority of these students were from government schools. They were given kits with basic experiments which they worked on,” said Srimathy Kesan, founder and CEO, Space Kidz India.

Quote
From February this year, students attended online sessions with Space Kidz where they learnt to work with the components they were given, and were taught about satellites, rockets, and some basic programming and coding. “They sent us back the experiments they had finished, and we have integrated this into the AzaadiSAT which will be launched on August 15,” Ms. Kesan said.

Does this mean the No Later Than end of July for the SSLV-D1, now has to be modified? I hope not!

I wonder what happened to the planned second ground test of S85 (SS1 first stage)?

I guess an extra few days isn't too long a wait, it's been awaited for two years :)  And it looks like it will be carrying two satellites, Microsat and Azaadsat.

I wonder what happened to the planned second ground test of S85 (SS1 first stage)?

ISRO official newsletter said this when they reported successful static test of SS1 stage on 14th May 2022: https://www.isro.gov.in/update/14-mar-2022/ground-testing-of-solid-booster-stage-ss1-small-satellite-launch-vehicle-sslv
Quote
The successful test of solid booster stage has given sufficient confidence to proceed with the first developmental flight of SSLV (SSLV-D1) which is scheduled in May 2022. The remaining stages of SSLV i.e. SS2 & SS3 stages have successfully undergone necessary ground tests and are ready for integration.

This contradicts what "an ISRO official" said after SS1 static test failure in March 2021: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/science/static-test-of-first-stage-solid-motor-of-indias-mini-rocket-sslv-unsuccessful/articleshow/81653164.cms
Quote
"SSLV First stage is a new solid motor...new design. New motor has to be static tested on the ground to prove its performance. If it is successful, one more of the same configuration is tested again for acceptance. If both are successful, no more ground test is required and third motor of the same configuration will be accepted for flight", an ISRO official said.

Either there was no requirement of two successful static tests to begin with, or they skipped the second test for SS1 for some reason :-\ ;D

They could have also done the second test, but haven't announced it yet.
