Yeah, the ESC-A could push more through TLI, roughly 13t, as opposed to 9.8 with the Briz-M.

The HM7B is not restartable btw.

And secondly, the Ariane V ECA places 10t in GTO, not GEO.

Yups, my own mistake(s). GTO = different from GEO. 2.5 km/s Vs 4.1 km/s.
Hence GEO payload is only 50 % of GTO. For example Delta IV heavy 12300 kg GTO become 6200 kg to GEO.

So it would be 6 tons for the ESC-B. To GEO, 3.8 km/s.
EML-2 (the Farquhar way) is 3.3 km/s; leaving a bit more payload to Ariane.

In the end maybe an Ariane 5 ESC-B could send a Soyuz to EML-2,single launch;but margins would be tight...
