Wow, it's almost like value is subjective and no board of experts can determine which direction space exploration should go....

They can, it just won't be everyone's personal idea of a perfect space program.  But here's a statement (feel free to declare it untruthful): we're all tired of waiting.
You guys in the UK ought to lobby for a British manned space program, then. ;)

I kid, I kid... not really. It'd be great to have the Brits join us in the vast expanse.

But I agree that we need to break free of LEO.

Chris  Whoever loves correction loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.

To the maximum extent practicable, the Federal Government shall plan missions to accommodate the space transportation services capabilities of United States commercial providers. US law http://goo.gl/YZYNt0

Have we gone far enough OT yet?
Can we stick to falsifiable propositions? Like Jim's and spacely's first posts?
What kind of wastrels would dump a perfectly good booster in the ocean after just one use?

Sure.. can those who think the NASA's budget is going to double "some day" give us a date by which they will agree they were wrong should it not happen?
Human spaceflight is basically just LARPing now.

Trying to get this thread on topic. Here's another untruth, although I admit it's not 'oft repeated':

"All threads started by Jim make sense"

I'll leave it up to you good folks to figure out what I mean.  :)
