I posted a picture of the actual damage to the actuator on another Discord server. The dent was large enough that it made the actuator unusable. They had to remove it so they can fold up the leg for transport. Not sure if they will replace before they fold up the leg or not.

I don’t think leg removal is required for booster conversion.

It’s mainly replacing the interstage with a nose cone and relocating the grid fins to the nose cone.

Booster 1052 came back in recently from the #SpaceX KPLO mission without incident, but the cap went up with only 3 (of 4) cables attached. 1 of those dropped unexpectedly and dented the right leg (which caused its removal) & then the cap went back on without any cables. A 1st.

Leg retraction finally underway on B1052. Remains to be seen what SpaceX plans to do with the damaged leg.

The leg strut has been removed and appears to have been replaced with a tension cable.

The leg itself seems to be the money piece, and it didn't get whacked, so a new strut and away they go.

Workers have retracted the damaged leg, with the telescopic strut removed.

I would... err... assume they'll fix it properly before the next mission

From the video, it swung up straight and true, and latched. Dude disconnected the pull cables and that was it.
