[Discussion thread for launch of Crew 13 mission.

Launching NET October, from KSC LC-39A or CCSFS SLC-40, aboard first stage B1XXX-X.  The first stage will land at TBD.  The spacecraft is Crew Dragon TBD, C2XX-X.

This mission may serve as USCV-13 or -14 depending on whether Starliner-2 is approved to fly crew after Starliner-1 flies in April 2026. October 2026 is the NET for USCV-13 so if Starliner-2 takes that slot, Crew-13 will likely fly in April or June 2027.]

Following the flight of Apollo 13, NASA decided not to fly another mission "13" and re-numbered the shuttle flights around that flight.
With SpaceX coming close to its 13th manned crew flight to ISS, do you think SpaceX / NASA will call that flight "13"?

MOD EDIT: Added information on mission in brackets

 ;) Finally! a "legitimate" use for Starliner! Fly Starliner-1 after Crew-12 and before Crew-14!  :)

Isn't the "Crew" name specific to SpaceX missions ? (otherwise, Starliner-1 would rather be Starliner-13). In that case, even if flown after Starliner-1, the next Crew mission will be Crew-13.

Sure. it will be the thirteenth operational CCP mission no matter what they name it. However, the premise of the OP is that NASA may wish to avoid having the number "13" in the name of the mission, so I attempted to make a joke about how they could do this. Clearly I will never make a living as a comedian.

I think the delay to what was to have been STS 10 had more to do with it.

The 13th crewed flight of Dragon was Crew-8...

This is silly speculation.
Soviets/Russian or Chinese, had launched always their "13" missions:

Soyuz 13 / 1973-> Orion Telescope->Success
Soyuz T-13 / 1985 -> Recover control of Salyut 7 station->Success
Soyuz TM-13 / 1991 -> 10th Mir long stay and two foreign researchers->Success
Soyuz TMA-13 / 2008 -> ISS Expedition. One american on board (Fincke)->Success
Soyuz TMA-13M / 2014 -> ISS Expedition. One american on board (Wiseman)->Success
Soyuz MS-13 / 2019 -> ISS Expedition. One american on board (Morgan)->Success
Shenzhou 13 / 2021 -> Chinese Station Expedition->Success

Stop this debate, please.

But by their side, after Soyuz 1, the Russians never named a Soyuz mission with a "1" again, even if it was manned ;) (see Soyuz T, TM, TMA, TMA-M, MS)

This is not true.
Prior to Soyuz 1, Gagarin's flight was known as only "VostoK"
And the first Komarov's flight was named only "Voskhod".

And related to the first Soyuz flight, (probably) it was named with the numeral because it was scheduled to dock with another manned vehicle, the Soyuz-2.

Your statement is "apples and oranges". If you read my initial post, I said NASA, not Roscosmos. I understand that Russia used "13" multiple times, but since Apollo 13 NASA hasn't.

Same thing was done with World War 1.

It's great that there was a thread for the Crew-13 crew, do you have any suggestions for a crew?

This is a thread for the mission, not the crew per se.

There’s a whole separate thread about speculating who would fly on this mission or that mission.

That aside, can we lock this thread until Crew-13 is officially announced in about a year or so?
SECO confirmed. Nominal orbit insertion.

Crew-13 still has not been confirmed as USCV-13 but with Crew-12 moving left to February 15th and no recent Starliner updates, it seems likely that Crew-13 as USCV-13 in H2 2026 will be announced relatively soon.

NASA no longer has any astronauts assigned to Starliner-1. Scott Tingle was on the crew but has become chief of the astronaut office. Luke Delaney was also assigned, but has now moved to Crew-13, per a source.

The USCV-13 rotation is targeting October 2026. At this time it is still undecided if it will be Crew-13 or Starliner-2.

“The next commercial flight to the International Space Station without a specific provider assigned is targeted no earlier than October 2026. This flight will handover with NASA’s SpaceX Crew-12 mission, which is targeted to launch in early 2026,” a NASA spokesperson said.

The Main Medical Commission has assessed the readiness of the Russian cosmonaut for the expedition to the ISS
- Crews
December 25, 2025

Today, December 25, 2025, the Main Medical Commission (GMK) met at the Cosmonaut Training Center to assess the medical fitness of Russian crew member of USCV SpaceX Crew-12, Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyayev, for space flight to the International Space Station.

The commission included representatives from the Cosmonaut Training Center, the Institute of Medical and Biological Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Federal Medical Biological Agency of Russia, the Russian Ministry of Defense, and the Russian Ministry of Health.

According to the GMK's conclusion, Russian member of the USCV SpaceX Crew-12 crew, Roscosmos cosmonaut A.V. Fedyayev, is fit for space flight under the cross-flight agreement. The launch of the Crew Dragon spacecraft is scheduled for no earlier than mid-February 2026.

The GMK also decided that Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergei Teteriatnikov is fit for training as part of the crew.

So it's seems that Sergei Teteriatnikov (the first of the 2019 selection) it's named as backup for this flight, and probably would be assigned to the USCV-13 crew
