Hello world, we're Astranis. Starting this week we're opening the doors to our satellite factory in San Francisco with new videos, pictures, and interviews with the Astranis team. A lot of new content coming soon. Follow for more.
Jan 18, 2023We’re about to launch the first communications satellite ever dedicated to a U.S. state. In our newest vlog we went up to Alaska to talk to Astranis customer Pacific Dataport and the people in Alaska who are eagerly awaiting our satellite. We're connecting the 4 billion unconnected to the internet, 1 satellite at a time.
First @Astranis satellite arrived safe and sound this morning at Cape Canaveral @SLDelta45!
Thanks Bloomberg @technology for having me on the show to talk about what we're building at @Astranis. Couldn't be more excited about our first satellite being delivered to Cape Canaveral.
We recently sent our Alaska satellite on its final (terrestrial) journey:🌉 San Francisco → 🚀 Cape Canaveral
Apr 22, 2023Our first spacecraft manufacturing facility was a literal apartment. Here’s the story of DemoSat: the satellite that proved our team could build hardware for space.
We've got a big announcement coming tomorrow morning.
Internet from a small satellite in geostationary orbit? Sure, why not"We now have a new way of connecting very remote places."by Eric Berger - May 24, 2023 1:06pm GMTA startup space company says it has successfully deployed and tested a kitchen-stove-sized satellite in geostationary orbit and begun delivering Internet service to Alaska.
Astranis' first internet satellite Arcturus is in orbit, and is working "perfectly" after tests: https://www.cnbc.com/2023/05/24/astranis-first-internet-satellite-over-alaska-working-perfectly.htmlThe view of Arcturus deploying its solar arrays, seen from SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket upper stage:
“We have a new way of connecting people in some of the most remote and underserved parts of the world,” Astranis CEO John @Gedmark.
.@Astranis' post-launch video gives a personal look inside the experience of its employees watching their first commercial internet satellite fly into orbit successfully:cnbc.com/2023/05/24/ast…
And two weeks later, the company sent the satellite a video (of itself) that it beamed back in a end-to-end test of its capabilities: https://www.cnbc.com/2023/05/24/astranis-first-internet-satellite-over-alaska-working-perfectly.html
Our Pier 70 HQ used to be a production line during WWI and WWII where steel would come in one end and complete battleships and submarines would go out the other. Now, we’re using that same factory to build things for space.
Final satellite will be "UtilitySat", which will replace Arcturus, which suffered a solar array malfunction.QuoteAstranis internet satellite malfunctions before beginning Alaska service, backup planned for springJUL 21 2023[...]Astranis will launch the previously unannounced “UtilitySat” as part of its batch of four satellites that are set to fly later this year. Gedmark described it as “the Swiss Army Knife of satellites.”[...]
