Hello, I hope this is not too off topic.
I'd love to see folks adapt Mark Holderman's Nautilus-X concept to Starship.

The payload segments would work with the cargo version of the SpaceX Starship.

Best,

Tom

Just a reminder that SpaceX will actually offer a 22-meter extended fairing variant of Starship to future customers. 👀

Current fairing is 17.24 meters tall.

It might not look like a big difference here, but that's an extra 4.76 meters, which adds a good ~239m≥ of volume! 🤯

Falling back to the world

Here is a quick shot of my speculative future design of a starship (SN26?)  Using is areoflaps in the upper atmosphere.

Here's to the hopefully successful first flight of Starship SN8.

Which is exactly what is required to launch sections for a toroidal space station.

Mass of the sections is not particularly high, even when fully outfitted with a radiation shield. Each section is calculated to be no more than 40% of the max LEO. Which gives headroom for all kinds of directions and whatnot, to happen, per given flight.. or... re the orbital of the finished assembly.

Additional hardware can be launched at the same time as the section, balancing the load out, etc.

So, I was planning on having a video done this week about Raptor. I may have (slightly) underestimated how long 4K footage would take to render, so it's looking like it won't be done until the middle of next week

Until then, enjoy a frame from that upcoming video.

Just finished my first SN8 renders, but there's still a lot of work to do to get to the level of @Neopork85 . I need to rework the skirt, flap and nose textures, add COPV's into the skirt and finish the aero covers.

HOW STARSHIP WILL CONTROL! 🚀

This is a quite new way of controlling a rocket, so it will be really interesting to see it tried for the first time soon!
