On this, @newtgingrich & I agree!  If we follow this blueprint, our space program, the nation & the world will be better.  Bi-partisan support is going to be needed to break from the traditional, bureaucratic development of space vehicles.  The Space Council can help make it so!

Newt is definitely a space enthusiast, and though he doesn't get all of his facts right at least he is advocating for relying on the commercial launch industry for government space exploration. Trump listens to him, and Gingrich has the ability to say whatever he wants on Fox News, so we'll see if any of that matters.
If we don't continuously lower the cost to access space, how are we ever going to afford to expand humanity out into space?

It is unlikely that we will get a break from old before starting the new; we'll continue to pay the old tax/protection money until that traditional, bureaucratic program collapses under its own weight.  If the National Space Council can push through an effort to begin using commercial launchers for architecture development in parallel with the 'central' role of the SLS/Orion(wink, wink, wink), it will be one more opportunity to show what can be done if a different approach is taken.  May have to sweeten the medicine by sending new buckets of money to Alabama for hardware like the DSG.
