Emergencies with Commercial Crew online?
« on: 01/14/2015 03:23 pm »
I didn't want to pollute the official thread on the recent possible ammonia leak with this question. Please move if necessary. I hope everyone is safe up there.

Recently, an alarm on ISS forced the crew to evacuate to the Russian Orbital Segment. When a Commercial Crew Vehicle is attached, would the crew enter that vehicle instead? If 1 Cosmonaut rides on the Commercial Crew Vehicle,  might he be trapped in the ROS? I though Soyuz seats were conformed to each person.

People go to the vehicles that they are assigned to.  No intermixing.

Correct.  The crew will always retreat to their host vehicle unless a fire is blocking their path.    Even in teh future if the craft is docked to Node2 and their is an ammonia leak they will use their respirators to get to their vehicle.

  Hey, Jimmy!

Everybody has learned from those dangerous fiascos that occurred on MIR.
Remember the fire and the collision/air loss incidents on MIR?
The lessons learned have been applied to ISS protocols and procedures.
