Milestone 15

A step toward launch readiness was achieved, with the successful qualification of HANBIT-Nano’s second stage at our Goheung test facility. 🌟

The test demonstrated key innovations:
• Electric pump in a liquid methane rocket engine
• Common bulkhead design, enabling system simplification and weight reduction

We now move forward with the final first-stage qualification, aiming for launch readiness in the second half of 2025 — bringing us one step closer to liftoff. 🌌

Welcome to the Goheung Integrated Test Facility — where HANBIT-Nano technology is put to the test.

This is the core infrastructure that powers full-cycle launch vehicle development — from hybrid and methane engine assembly, hot fire testing, and launch pad validation to first- and second-stage qualification tests. It’s where hardware comes to life. 🏗️

INNOSPACE held a completion ceremony for the Integrated Test Facility on May 22 in Goheung, South Korea. 🎉

We regard the Goheung Integrated Test Facility as a significant step forward in fostering Korea’s private space industry and strengthening technological self-reliance, being the first of its kind developed by the private sector.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful completion of this facility, including the Jeonnam Provincial Government, Goheung-gun, and the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA). 🙏🌠

Innospace have just signed an agreement with Southern Launch for use of the Koonibba Test Range and for future launches at Whaler's Way:
Quote
Leading space mission service provider Southern Launch has signed South Korean launch service provider INNOSPACE to conduct space missions from the Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex and the Koonibba Test Range.

This strategic partnership enables INNOSPACE to conduct a diverse range of missions from Southern Launch sites, including orbital satellite launches and suborbital technology demonstrations.

Beginning in 2026 and continuing for at least the next decade, this agreement strengthens South Australia’s position as an emerging global hub for space innovation.

“We are excited to welcome INNOSPACE to our launch sites,” said Lloyd Damp, CEO of Southern Launch. “INNOSPACE is at the forefront of launch vehicle development, and we are proud to support their technology and mission objectives from both Whalers Way and Koonibba. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to advancing space access and delivering flexible, reliable launch solutions for global customers.”

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine - however, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are
going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead.

I'm surprised I'm not seeing more hype around this maiden launch attempt. Isn't Innospace in a race with Gilmore's Eris for a historic milestone, the first hybrid rocket engine to orbit?

I'm also curious if this is the largest hybrid motor design to date, or at least the largest paraffin hybrid. I was under the impression that this was a particularly difficult fuel to cast into large grains that would remain stable throughout the burn cycle.

I'm also curious if this is the largest hybrid motor design to date
RocketMotorTwo is slightly higher thrust (310 kN vs. HANBIT-Nano's 245 kN first stage), and the engine RocketMotorTwo spawned from - Small Common Booster, the first stage of SpaceDev's never-flown Streaker launch vehicle - was >500 kN. I'm not sure if SCB was ever fired - I know the upper stage Hybrid was fired on the test stand build for SCB, but IIRC SpaceDev were bought by SNC (for Dream Chaser, with Streaker being cancelled) before any further work occurred.

INNOSPACE expands its global launch footprint to Europe!

We have signed a launch site use agreement with the Atlantic Spaceport Consortium (ASC), securing priority, long-term access to the Malbusca Launch Center on Santa Maria Island in Portugal’s Azores. Through this agreement, INNOSPACE expands its launch footprint to Europe, following Brazil and Australia. 🗺️

🏝️ The operational independence and open launch trajectories of an island-based spaceport will further reinforce tailored mission execution and commercial launch competitiveness.
