L2 Gateway platform-to-Earth coms
« on: 06/21/2012 05:16 pm »
Will a gateway platform at L2 have line-of-sight to Earth, or will the moon completely eclipse it. If so, how would coms be conducted. Relay sat in lunar polar orbit, or high Earth polar orbit ?

By using halo or Lissajous orbits about L2, the platform will have constant line-of-sight to Earth. A platform at L2 would be eclipsed, but there's no advantage to staying at L2 itself relative to staying in a halo or Lissajous orbit.
