LV is a CZ-2C, so this launch should be from LC3?

The pads are for the most part universal now however LC3 is most likely. Also should have a CZ-3A in the hall by now.

Follow-on question:  What could a CZ-3A be launching from Xichang?

Some notes that I collected, from various sources, several days ago, before the NOTAM revealed the approximate launch time:

FY-2     Launch Date/Time (UTC)
A          June 10, 1997 / 12:01
B          June 25, 2000 / 11:50
C          Oct. 19, 2004 / 01:20
D          Dec. 8, 2006 / 00:53
E          Dec. 23, 2008 / 00:54
F          Jan. 13, 2012 / 00:56
G         Dec. 31, 2014 / 01:02
H         June 5, 2018 / ~13:10 (deduced)

Apparently, there are two possible launch windows for the FY-2's, separated by approximately 12 hours?
***

Also, apparently, this will be the next-to-last launch for the CZ-3A?  This and one more Beidou-2 IGSO payload?
http://space.skyrocket.de/doc_lau_det/cz-3a.htm
Per NSF Schedule I currently count 5 manifested fly (unclear if Standard (G1) or Enhanced (G2) CZ-3A's will be used: https://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=5060.msg1827192#msg1827192

CZ-3A and the rest of its families is replaced by configurations of the CZ-6, CZ-7 and CZ-8 families.

In fact CALT just reported a few days ago that they are shipping a CZ-3A and a CZ-3B to Xichang in early June. Presumbly the 3A will launch one of the two remaining "transition" 2nd generation BDS navigation satellites.

There has been no hints of any LM-3A launch planned, much less one going to launch soon. I wonder where RH117 got that.  ::)

Then why has this been listed since last year through this month as October on our NSF schedule?? I know that at least one is at the factory stored ready to ship.

Is it a typo/left-over LV listing from before "we" learned that the Beidou-3 GSO and IGSO satellites are using the same launch vehicle (CZ-3B/G2) and launch profile?

If the CZ-3A is not for a Beidou launch from Xichang, then what is it for?  I don't see any pending launches for this LV on Gunter's site.

Please correct me if I'm wrong:
All the FY-2 geostationary weather satellites have launched.

All the Beidou-2 satellites have launched.

Many of the CZ-3A payloads have been built on the DFH-3 bus.  Are there any pending payloads, built on the DFH-3 bus, bound for GTO, and massing circa 2 metric tons?  I didn't find any after a quick check on Gunter's web site.

Or could this be a new type of payload?

(If needed, we can transplant our discussion to another thread?)

Correct I am providing attention to the fact that a CZ-3A apparently exists at the factory and the CZ-3A repeatedly remains on our schedule even though there aren't any known remaining satellites for it. The entry should probably be deleted from the schedule.

To summarize, then:
The remaining CZ-3A at the factory (probably) has no payload.
If so, then we can consider that LV model retired?

It can become a museum artifact?  Are there any equipment or parts of current value to strip from the LV?

I'll PM Satori.

I already did. There are spare parts to build another B2 but with B3 progressing well it isn't needed.

This launch will possibly take place on February 17.

Offline Galactic Penguin SST

Note that most Chinese sources seems to indicate the February 17 Xichang flight (some says February 15) is of a different rocket, probably the CZ-2D first flight from Xichang delayed from last year. No one seems to be sure what's launching on it.

As noted in the Chinese launch schedule thread, there seems to be a CZ-11 flight out of Xichang in February too, and that one might actually launch first.

There are 2 pads which now support all types so either could launch from either pad. Not sure how many days it takes  XSLC so switch pads.

Apparently there are reports that the Chinese might be testing fairing intact recovery for this one (I mean even those that plunge back on land right now looks fairly intact anyway...)

Payload would be a sixth group of 3 SIGINT (and possibly Imagery) satellites in a circular orbit at 600 km altitude inclined 35°

Here is a reference for the 5th group: https://www.janes.com/article/90146/china-launches-more-surveillance-satellites
