Not to mention you'd have to wear a scape suit at the gas station!

These guys would be the "service" station attendants!

What kind of noise does the pad's OWPs make when they're being operated? Is an electrical buzz noise like other electrically powered doors(like the OPF high bay doors) or do they sound more mechanical given their size?

The buzzing of the OPF doors is not coming from the electrical system, there are actually industrial buzzers mounted on the doors. They are a safety device, they let you know the doors are in motion. Just like the annoying beep, beep, beep on a truck that is backing up. I would assume the pad panels are similar.

Here's a question for those in the know:

What is the OTV ID numbers for the cameras marked in the attached image as "OTV-X??"

Not a given that they are OTV cameras

They sure share the same design as the others, so it's a good bet that they are OTV cameras.

The infrared ones are not part of the OTV system.

So those two cameras are IR cameras, not standard cameras?

Question on the ET I/T Access Arm:

I understand that the access platform that allows access to the GH2 vent line and the GUCP is extensible to allow for vent line/GUCP mating/de-mating. But what about the access platform that provides access to the ET I/T door?

Is it part of the main ET I/T Access Arm structure or is it too extensible? The best photo I have of the arm in the retracted state shows it to be a part of the main arm structure, is this correct?

There is only one ET arm
Well, two if you count the GVA. But in the case, I'm talking about the Intertank Access Arm on the 215' level of the FSS.

To me the Intertank arm seems to be made up of three sections, the main arm structure, one extensible platform that slides in and out of the main arm structure which provides access to the GUCP area and one section that provides access to the Intertank access door on the tank.

Basically, three pieces, one center, one north when extended and one south when extended. It's the north section I'm interested in.

I have attached a photo of the section in question, circled in red.

It extends out as well, as needed.

Are you talking about the platform that slightly obstructs the CAUTION sign in the photo? I fail to see how the other platform can be retracted since it got handrails and metal grating attached it.

You don't happen to have a photo that shows the platforms in their retracted state do you?

Yes, that piece slides out. it's usually only deployed if access is needed to the IT. The main piece in the center is fixed to the arm.

OK, thanks for clarification!

Relaying a question for a friend:

"Why have they removed the hammerhead crane from Pad A and not Pad B?  They are located on top of the FSS.  Also were these cranes ever used for the Shuttle Program?  When they upgraded Pad A a few years ago they took it down.  I don’t know what the ARES people have done."
PSA #1: EST does NOT mean "Eastern Time".  Use "Eastern" or "ET" instead, all year round, and avoid this common error.  Google "EST vs EDT".
PSA #2: It's and its: know the difference and quietly impress grammar pedants.  Google "angry flower its" .  *** See profile for two more NSF forum tips. ***
