Hey, it has solar wings, it must be a satellite ;-)

A more realistic (i.e. a non Shenzou model) view can be found here:

http://space.skyrocket.de/doc_sdat/venesat-1.htm
http://www.cev.gob.ve/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=33&Itemid=56

These are also images of a model, but these represent at least a DFH-4 type spacecraft.

And the person that points out to him that he is holding the the wrong model will be reeducated by having to listen to the entire unabridged speeches of Chavez with no bathroom or snack breaks...

Thank you very much for that information. I've found this news (in Spanish) from October 22nd that points to a November 1 (November 2 UTC) launch.

Is it possible to know your source?

Thanks!

So since China local time is GMT+8, this could mean late on Oct 29 GMT.

The Simon Bolivar satellite is ready for launch according to this El satélite Simón Bolívar ya está en un cohete impulsor esperando su lanzamiento (in Spanish).

According to the article "Venezolana de Televisión anunció que el lanzamiento se realizará este miércoles 29, a las 11:30 de la mañana, hora de Venezuela", that is according to a TV station the launch will take place on Wednesday (October 29) at 11:30 am Venezuela time (this is 1700UTC).

Also from the article, the ministry Noris Orihuela asks to all Venezuela nation "to sing, to dance and to celebrate" the launch of the rocket. The launch will be transmited by CCTV, by Venezolana de Televisión and by the Sistema Nacional de Medios Públicos.

Other sources still point to a November 2 launch.

Venezuela new legal time is GMT-4h30minutes
So that 11:30 am in Caracas will be 16:00 GMT
This corresponds to Midnight in XiChang , so very early(!) morning indeed :D
