Separation of 2 and 3 steps occurs according to the "hot" scheme. The 3 stage engine starts before separation and the gas jet diverts the 2 stage. The 2 and 3 stages sep takes place according to the 'hot' scheme. The 3 st engine ignites before separation, and the gas jet removes the 2 st..

Roskosmos adds 34 more satellites to OneWeb constellation
02/11/202200:45
On Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 21:09:37 Moscow time, the Soyuz-ST-B launch vehicle was launched from the launch complex of the Guiana Space Center. After 3.5 hours, the Fregat-M upper stage successfully launched another batch of 34 OneWeb satellites into low Earth orbit.
The successive separation of nine groups of spacecraft from the Russian upper stage proceeded normally. All OneWeb satellites have been successfully launched into their assigned orbits and taken under control. After the completion of the breeding and separation of the spacecraft, the Fregat upper stage, for which this is already the 106th flight, will be deorbited, and approximately at the sixth hour of the flight, its fireproof elements will be flooded into the uninhabited part of the Indian Ocean.
The spacecraft were launched under a contract between Glavkosmos (part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) and the European launch services provider Arianespace in close cooperation with other subsidiaries of Roscosmos (Progress Rocket and Space Center, Scientific and Production Association named after S. A. Lavochkina, Center for the Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Objects).
For OneWeb, this was the thirteenth launch using Russian Soyuz-2 launch vehicles and the second from the Guiana Space Center. Five launches were carried out from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, and six more from the newest Russian Vostochny Cosmodrome.
Currently, there are already 428 OneWeb communication satellites in low-Earth orbit. The next OneWeb missions throughout 2022, which will also use the Russian Soyuz-2 launch vehicle, will allow OneWeb to start providing services around the world this year.
OneWeb spacecraft are designed to create a space communication system that provides high-speed Internet access anywhere in the world. Internet access via the OneWeb satellite system will be provided through 40 ground terminal stations that will be deployed on the Earth's surface. OneWeb terminals will be self-contained, able to supply themselves with energy and well protected from the influence of adverse environmental factors.
Each of the terminals will be able to provide high-speed Internet access in its coverage area via Wi-Fi, LTE or 5G technologies. A licensed radio frequency band or, where available, an open public Wi-Fi, LTE or 5G radio frequency band will be used.

There are currently 428 #OneWeb communications satellites in orbit.
The next @OneWeb missions through 2022, in which the Russian Soyuz 2 launch vehicle will be used, will enable the start of OneWeb’s global services this year!

Arianespace’s thirteenth flight for OneWeb successfully deployed 34 additional satellites
- First Arianespace’s mission of 2022 and OneWeb’s thirteenth launch, Soyuz Flight VS27 successfully put 34 additional constellation satellites into a near-polar orbit.
– In the course of 2022, Arianespace will continue to deploy OneWeb’s satellite network, which now comprises 428 satellites in low Earth orbit.
Today’s launch, Flight VS27, was the first Arianespace’s mission of 2022 and the 340th launch overall for the Arianespace family of launchers Ariane, Soyuz and Vega. Performed on Thursday, February 10 at precisely 03:09 p.m. local time at Guiana Space Center (06:09 p.m. UTC), this mission orbited 34 OneWeb satellites bringing the size of the fleet in orbit to 428.
“2022 begins with the successful orbiting of 34 satellites for OneWeb. Congratulations to all the teams who made this thirteenth launch for OneWeb a success,” said Stéphane Israël, CEO of Arianespace. “More OneWeb missions are coming soon this year and will enable the start of the constellation’s global services. We are proud to contribute to the OneWeb project, which will increase connectivity on earth while treating space as a natural resource and being committed to protecting it.”
The OneWeb constellation will deliver high-speed, low-latency connectivity to a wide range of customer sectors, including aviation, maritime, backhaul services, and for governments, emergency response services and more. Central to its purpose, OneWeb seeks to bring connectivity to every place where fiber cannot reach, and thereby bridge the digital divide. Once deployed, the OneWeb constellation will work with user terminals that are capable of offering 3G, LTE, 5G and Wi-Fi coverage, providing high-speed access globally – by air, sea and land.
The satellite prime contractor is OneWeb Satellites, a joint venture of OneWeb and Airbus Defence and Space. The OneWeb satellites are the 531st to 564th Airbus Defence and Space satellites to be orbited by Arianespace. The satellites were produced in Florida, USA in its leading-edge satellite manufacturing facilities that can build up to two satellites per day on a series production line dedicated to spacecraft assembly, integration, and testing.
The medium-lift Soyuz (produced by Progress Space Rocket Center, part of the Russian State Space Corporation Roscosmos) entered service from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana in October 2011, bringing the industry’s longest-operating launcher to the world’s most modern launch base. Soyuz is a four-stage launcher, designed with extremely high reliability requirements for its wide range of missions, including human space flights.
VS27 in figures
The VS27 OneWeb satellites are:
1102nd to 1135th satellites launched by Arianespace;
68th to 101st satellites launched on Soyuz from CSG;
528th to 561st satellites launched on Soyuz by Arianespace and Starsem;
561st to 594th constellation satellites launched by Arianespace.

OneWeb Confirms Successful Launch of 34 Satellites, Delivering Ongoing Momentum at the Start of 2022
OneWeb confirms successful launch and contact with 34 satellites, bringing total in-orbit constellation to 428 satellites
OneWeb has now launched two thirds of LEO satellite fleet that will deliver high-speed, low-latency global connectivity
OneWeb starts the year with ten launches completed since December 2020, and several partnerships and agreements signed
London, 10 February, 2022: OneWeb, the low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications company, today confirmed the successful deployment of 34 satellites by Arianespace from the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana. This launch, the Company’s first in 2022 and 13th overall, brings OneWeb’s total in-orbit constellation to 428 satellites. It represents 66 percent of OneWeb’s planned 648 LEO satellite fleet that will deliver high-speed, low-latency global connectivity.
This launch kicks off a successful start to 2022 as demand for OneWeb’s broadband connectivity services has continued to grow across telecommunications providers, aviation and maritime markets, ISPs, and governments worldwide. Most recently, the Company has signed new distribution partnership agreements with several companies in the last month – including Hughes Network Systems, Marlink, and Field Solutions Holdings – to help ensure connectivity is delivered to the most hard-to-reach places globally.
Liftoff of the latest launch occurred on Thursday, 10th of February 2022. OneWeb’s satellites separated from the rocket and were dispensed in nine batches over a period of 3 hours 33 minutes with signal acquisition on all 34 satellites confirmed.
Neil Masterson, OneWeb CEO, commented: “Our first launch of the year marks our significant progress in completing a truly global LEO network later in 2022. We continue to see growing demand for OneWeb’s industry-leading services as we look forward to delivering on our ambition to build robust, secure, and global access to broadband services.”
OneWeb dedicated this latest launch to the Company’s commitment to Responsible Space – its belief that space is a shared natural resource and it is up to all of us to help safeguard it for use today and by future generations. OneWeb’s Responsible Space initiative is comprised of three core elements; committing to responsible design and operations, sustaining the space ecosystem to support new technologies to advance in this area and, lastly, engaging in advancing policy outcomes to balance growing the space economy while ensuring its protection.
