Video of Atlas Rocket on display in Canada
« on: 03/22/2018 03:36 pm »
Not quite on topic, but close enough.  For many years, the Canada Science and Technology Museum had an Atlas ICBM on display outside.  In fact, that's why I went to the museum in the first place!  But a couple of years ago, when the museum was closed and rebuilt because of mold, the rocket was scrapped.  It had been sitting outdoors for so long and was leaking so badly they feared it would collapse in spite of the air compressor keeping it inflated.   Anyway, before it was scrapped, an Ottawa local shot drone video of it and I just stumbled on it.

Not a space mission, but a piece of history for the Atlas booster.

Here's the listing of the rocket, 5A:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SM-65_Atlas#Survivors

And here is the video:

Hope you like it.
