Will the doors be opened to the top?
I am assuming yes which would be a first since the Skylap era right?

I am so excited to see the first rocket to be rolled out to manned pads in my life. Too bad I will be sleeping cause I got school but maybe one day I will be riding on top of it

I'm sure they've had the doors open since then, albeit not for an actual rocket to get through. But yes, it's very exciting in some ways. The last time a new vehicle rolled out of the VAB was December 1980, six-and-a-half years before I was born. Whether we want Ares to be our next vehicle or not, this is history in the making. Let's try to enjoy it

That's a good point. I hope they tested them before hand...

Didn't the doors need repair/maintenance after a hurricane a few years ago? There was also some structural (sheet metal) repair on the exterior walls & roof at the time. If so, I imagine they opened them up all the way at the time...

Perhaps in the roundabout way that politics sometimes work the 2004 hurricanes that hit Florida one after the other underscored the absence of maintenance...

The doors can be opened individually and that's often done for air conditioning. Opening all of them at the same time is probably quite unusual.

Not sure what you mean... If the winds are overlimits at 1201a, they won't move. 10% means there is a 10% forecast they will be over limits.

Keep an eye on the weather thread for more detailed weather info.

The doors are opened and moved quite often, for maintenance, ventilation, etc. Actually, over the course of the last few years each door has been refurbished or replaced. They actually made a structure that mounted on the track and could be moved up and down as needed to envelop each door segment so that it could be refurbished. the large bottom doors were actually removed, layed down, rebuilt, and then replaced. Quite interesting to see over the course of a few years.
