Do we know what the "onboard" video coverage will be like? I saw a line item for it in the FRR but nothing specific?

Three onboard cameras. We were discussing this yesterday at PAO. PAO believes all three cameras are live-downlink cameras.

Do we know their locations?

Ares I-X has a small commemorative payload of DVDs and flags (article includes comments by the Ares I-X patch designer, too):

http://www.collectspace.com/news/news-102609a.html

Are they looking to turn it into a tickertape parade or something? Or maybe a chaf bomb?

No seriously, this is total nonsense. If it were being put into orbit or landing on something, fine. If it were my flag (Canadian) I would be mad as hell that it was going to be dunked into the Atlantic.

Just a reminder: the Canadian (and other) flags that flew to the Moon on Apollo plunked down in the ocean, too.

(The flags and DVDs are on Ares I-X's first stage and will be recovered. ATK previously flew flags on a solid rocket booster on STS-96 and they came through just fine.)

FYI, the NASA TV HD service came up at 11am this morning and is showing a static shot of Ares 1-X at LC-39B.  See links in my sig below for more information, including answers to questions like "how can I see this HD feed".  I don't know if SpaceVidCast is going to carry it this time, like they have for recent STS launches.

PSA #1: EST does NOT mean "Eastern Time".  Use "Eastern" or "ET" instead, all year round, and avoid this common error.  Google "EST vs EDT".
PSA #2: It's and its: know the difference and quietly impress grammar pedants.  Google "angry flower its" .

I posted a revised countdown summary and mission timeline at Interspace News

http://www.interspacenews.com/FeatureArticle/tabid/130/Default.aspx?id=3745

I also attached a word file of my hand written summary here on the NSF thread (see attachment below).  I tried my best to reconcile the various versions (barcharts, handouts, briefing slides, notes, PAO, etc…) and last minute tweeks.  Part of the problem is some of them will list a time that is really the end of a procedure as opposed to the beginning.  Another problem is some of the timelines floating around were early drafts and significant modifications have occurred over the last month as the launch team practiced and refined the SE-INT-0180 procedure.

The times I listed are, to the best of my knowledge the start of a given step unless listed otherwise.

Regardless of what happen tomorrow this is going to be something to see.

One other thing to note: If this flight ends badly, Ares I will probably die tomorrow.

Two are on the first stage and one is on the upper stage. Here is a photo of the latter:

NASA TV needs to broadcast in HD. If my local news station can do it, so can NASA.

1) 90% of local news programs do NOT broadcast in HD, they don't have the money to replace cameras
2) If you read his post again, you'll see it says that NASA TV's HD broadcast is up.

There are six cameras (at least six, to my knowledge) on I-X.
Probable locations:
1. U/S simulator, probably where the instrument unit is, external, looking down.
2. Frustum, external, looking down.
3. 5th Segment Simulator, external, looking up.
4. SRM aft segment (close to joint), external, looking up.
5, 6. Forward skirt, internal, looking up (for main parachutes deployment)

Looks like they finally have a camera of LC-39B (Ares I-X) up on the KSC Webcam page.  Looks to be from a HD camera, but downsized to SD.

From ChrisC-

"Time to repeat my answer to the most frequently asked question here -- how can I see this HD feed.  Here are some links to earlier posts in this thread where I explain what this is we're talking about.  In short:  you almost certainly can't get it.  It's a media feed, and you need a Really Big Antenna to get it (among other things).  DirecTV/Dish doesn't cut it."

After following the links to ChrisC's other posts at NASA HDTV Update, I gather that the NASA HD broadcast is not on the regular NASA TV channel I get at home on DishTV HD. That is where I would like to see HD broadcast. If the Ares 1-X launch is showing at my house tomorrow in HD, I would be very happy.

Correct. You will not see it in HD if you don't have the above setup. Proper place to ask more questions is in the HD thread since it's not connected to the I-X pad flow.
