MIT Shuttle lectures online
« on: 11/05/2006 12:46 pm »
I just found what looks to be a very detailed and comprehensive lecture series on the Shuttle that was given at MIT last year, and chaired by none other than Aaron Cohen. All of the talks were recorded and are available in both video and audio form, as well as lecture notes. The guest speakers included Chris Kraft, Wayne Hale and Bob Sieck.

I haven't had a chance to listen to it all yet, but thought that some people might be interested in the content.

Interesting stuff..thanks! Also noted the possiby unintended juxtaposition of the Aggie quote with Aaron Cohen's chairing of the lecture series...I seem to recall he went to teach at Texas A&M after he left NASA, hehe.

Definitely unintended. The quote is referring to Gerry Griffin!

MIT OPENCOURSEWARE -- Analysis of the Space Shuttle
« Reply #3 on: 10/16/2007 12:04 am »
Description from MIT's site:

This course was administrated by shuttle astronaut and MIT Professor Jeff Hoffman and Professor Aaron Cohen, who was the Space Shuttle Orbiter Project Manager. Guest speakers provide the majority of the content in video lectures, discussing topics such as system design, accident investigation, and the future of NASA's space mission.

This is the same one from a few years ago (not that it's invalid, just making sure people know it's not updated.)

I've been listening to these on my ipod for a little over a month now and I must say: WOW!

Never thought I'd learn as much as I have but it's been really interesting.  Some of the lectures such as the aerodynamics were a bit heady and over my head as a non engineer but interesting non the less

Yeah, it's pretty neat. The only issue I have is that sometimes you really need to follow along with the slides, makes it a bit harder to listen to. It is a great series of lectures though.
