Setting up this thread as a relief valve to the discussion and update thread and allowing new people - especially the large number of people now taking an interest in this after Elon's tweets - to get up to speed.

When I say relief valve, that means we can also move "Hi, I'm new, what's SpaceX and what the heck are they doing in South Texas?" (;)) posts into here too.

First post of the thread since it were created over 300 days ago...

Does anybody have information about if one or both of the tracking dishes in Boca Chica were active during and after the launch of DM2? And if so, are they still tracking dragon while it is at the ISS?

They use at least one of those two to track Dragon. Search for Nomadd's post, he reported on that quite often, including upgrades they made earlier.

For DM2:
It looked like the tracking dish made a pass pretty much overhead and one more to the west. If I'm thinking right, it should pick DM2 up again in 9 hours or so. I didn't get home in time to see if it was tracking the launch.

Ahh in the "SpaceX Falcon 9 / Dragon 2 : SpX-DM2 : May 30, 2020 : DISCUSSION" thread.
Thanks.

Well, I've got a general question....

Anyone know of a good source for Satellite imagery of SpaceX facilities in South Texas?

Google maps shows an ancient (well, for SpaceX) image showing some perhaps graded land:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/SpaceX+Launch+Facility/@25.9970834,-97.1579119,404m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m12!1m6!3m5!1s0x866fb3b7acdd5343:0x6de33c09fd1e48ce!2sSpaceX+Launch+Facility!8m2!3d25.9973164!4d-97.1572994!3m4!1s0x866fb3b7acdd5343:0x6de33c09fd1e48ce!8m2!3d25.9973164!4d-97.1572994

Apple Maps shows an even older image of wetlands:
https://maps.apple.com/place?q=SpaceX&auid=10915161533990193338&address=Boca%20Chica%20Blvd,%20Brownsville,%20TX%20%2078521,%20United%20States&ll=25.997260622763413,-97.15702950954437

I saw an image from Maxar at one point that was much more up to date, but I've lost track of it.

Any help?
Thanks,

The only "current" satellite images I've seen posted here come from Sentinel 2 which can be accessed at the Sentinel Hub Playground:

https://www.sentinel-hub.com/explore/sentinelplayground/

Of course, they are very low resolution.

That was it.
I was hoping someone had a public link to a zoomable satellite view.  When watching launches on the various YouTube channels, It'd be nice to be able to refer to a larger scale picture showing where the various cameras are located, to help me with spatial orientation.  That's the reason that RGV doesn't really work for me; they have great zoomed-in, highly detailed views; I want to be able to zoom out and get a big-picture view in addition to that detail.

Is it allowed to go near SN15 & SN16 for pictures? Or is one restricted to Boca Chica Blvd?

Hopeing for a answer but when can we expect the environmental assessment for SpaceX Boca Chica. It seems to be very delayed and obviously SpaceX can’t launch without it being completed.

Still several months away. People would be well advised not to expect a launch this year IMO.

:) Ha just saw today and went to check on a answer thanks I read it all before I came here. This will be interesting to see what will happen a FONSI or a new EIS.

IMHO the third choice, a mitigated FONSI is the most likely

Indeed I believe that’ll probably happen FONSI or mitigated FONSI.
