HLO because Orion can't reach LLO. That was my undestanding.

Near rectilinear orbits (NRO).

Thank you both!
Steven, that PDF is superb! It even gives delta/v (post TLI) round trip to the various orbits. That's a data point I've been trying to figure out how to figure out (to see what over vehicles might be viable) and here it is.

Lar, you're right, LLO is well beyond the capabilities of Orion; it is designed to have a total delta/v potential of 1250 m/s, while RT to LLO takes 1800 m/s.

NRHO and standard HLO to be exact.

In space servicing and assembly of large structures.

While not about DSG, there is lot of references about using DSG for assembling these structures.

Its location in cislunar is prime factor, low DV between DSG location and target locations eg L2 L5. Also this clean space especially compared to debris in LEO.

Question what's te purpose of a new Canadarm on the DSG?Is it's main purpose to assemble the DST's when that program is approved?
There is no strife,no prejudice,no national conflict in space as yet.Its hazards are hostile to us all.

To mount external payloads and R&R ORU's which for both DSG and DST must be designed to be done entirely robotically in the event a crew is not present and even while one is there.
