Quite the site: the last stand.

Seeing it as it is makes me wonder what the future now holds for America's manned space program.

Just watched the closeout crew's farewell on YouTube since I didn't get to see it live. Almost lost it.....leaving work now and think it's finally starting to set in, choking up as I write this now......I need a beer....

Once again, thank you all for your support of Human Space Flight and the Space Shuttles. Please, PLEASE...... Show your appreciation for these awesome machines by visiting them in their final homes.....

Padrat out....

God Speed Padrat. America is behind you :) You did a damn fine job you should be proud!

OVCC signed off the net with some emotion.

Audio of that is attached.  (Best I can do for now, will post video of this, etc. some time in future.)

From http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/podcasting/closeout_crew_prt.htm
Quote
As the program draws to a close, many space shuttle team members are making the most of the final flights.  And of course, that includes the Closeout Crew.

TRAVIS THOMPSON/CLOSEOUT CREW LEAD: I'll probably just stand over there in the corner and soak it in, and try and remember as much as I can, and hope that another program comes along and I get to do this again.

You don't need to tell ME. Endeavour's home will only be 30 miles from where I live. :)

Noticed that the ET camera during today's launch really captured the sheer force and vibration of ascent unlike any flight I can remember since its installation.  Very dynamic.

Who was the commentator on NASA TV today?  I don't know his name, but he's my favorite shuttle launch commentator.

Rob Navias / George Diller (pre-launch)
By the way, anyone know what happened to the audio feed from this guy (as well as the mission control/shuttle crew audio) between just after SRB sep and just after the Negative Return call?  On NASA TV, everything went silent for that interval of about 2 minutes.

Bump align and lock - this needs a bit of a tidy too, which I'll do post mission.
