Very early, but how might the slight hold affect the 4 hour defecit on extending the mission?

It will be interesting as to what that camera actually captures and whether it will overheat or melt before the ET starts breaking up...

Thanks Chris for your coverage of the launch: I missed the last-second drama (from T-40s) to T+1:45 due to my laptop overheating.  :P

Here's hoping that Atlantis have a nominal OMS burn, rendezvous, docking, mission and landing!  :)

That amount of time is not an issue.

So with the EXTRA time spent (or rather lost) due to the 2:30 minute hold at T-31 sec, what does this do to the "planned performance" of an on-time launch, regarding consumables of cryo ?   Will additional needs to steer Atlantis "back into the ISS orbital plane" reduce chances of adding +1 day to the mission?

Before your post gets buried, I'll say I believe that's taken care of by cryo margin in the ET, and will have no impact on Shuttle's cryo.

Excellent!  Congrats to the teams that got Atlantis to this point,, and Raffaello as well.

One of the things that I'll miss most is watching the clustered RS-25s spool up and then gimbal to launch position.  From now on, they (or RS-68) will likely be buried in the pad infrastructure.

Oh, and thanks NSF--so fun to share this and all things space with all of you.

Go Atlantis!  Go STS-135!

Did that External Tank re-entry camera get on board in the end?

yes, its the same camera used during ascent, just the cut-off timer has been removed so that it will remain on untill the end.

Why did they ever have a cutoff timer? ???

Because you can't transmit on those frequencies while over other countries.

Described in other threads but it's essentially to save battery incase of a scrub.
