Does anyone know why Roskosmos is using a Soyuz 2.1b for this mission when a Soyuz-U could do the same job?
The launch of Glonass-K1 satellite is possibly postponed to 2013 and possibly Glonass-M satellite will be launched on December 25th instead of it.
Will this affects the processing of ILS missions (Satmex-7 is currently scheduled on December 27), or like before an ILS mission and a Russian federal mission can be processed simulatneously?

This will the second Glonass-K1 satellites, which will be followed by Glonass-K2 (planned in 2014) and Glonass-KM (after 2015)

I remember both Glonass-K1 and -K2 are test satellites and only Glonass-KM will be production satellites
Launcher for this mission is 14A14-1B Soyuz-2-1B/Fregat (220/1044).
There are rumour on NK forum that the launch has been delayed due to problems with Fregat upper stage (it should be returned to a factory) and Glonass-K1 satellite.
And I have a reliable source that confirms that there will be no more Soyuz launches from Plesetsk in 2012, and that the problem is with the Fregat upper stage.
Apparently this launch has been delayed, might be in the second part of this year?
Quote from: beidou on 05/01/2013 08:30 pmApparently this launch has been delayed, might be in the second part of this year?yes it appears to be delayed partly because Russian Authorities are trying to clear up Glonass-M backlog. If I remember correctly all of the remaining Glonass-M SC's have been completed and are sitting in corporations long term storage area awaiting their eventual launch onboard either Soyuz-2-1b or Proton-M.
Any ideas on how many Glonass-m are currently in storage?

Which generation of Glonass will have sufficiently low mass so that 2 may be orbited on Soyuz at a time?
Supposedly you can launch 2 Glonass-K1/K2 on Soyuz-2-1b/Fregat-M

Yes, but why are Glonass K1 being launched one at a time on Soyuz?

I know the idea was to launch two at a time, but since then they have got heavier. Can Soyuz haul two to orbit? Is such a requirement still needed considering last years launches were cancelled or posponed?
If I understand this correctly, Glonass K1 could be launched 2 at a time, but was never put into serial production because of the requirement to add CDMA, which resulted in the KM becoming the operational system; KM is too heavy to be launched 2 at a time on Soyuz. I suspect that perhaps 4 or 5 KM satellites could be launched at a time on Proton-M, if they fit within the fairing.

Older information says that a single Glonass-KM can be launched via Soyuz-2i1b/Fregat-M with newer information saying two via Soyuz-2-3V if that launcher is implemented.Latest information rules out any possibility of launch via Proton-M/Briz-M (Block-DM).

Any update on this mission?
Any update on this one?
I have a question about numbering. I've seen this spacecraft named as Uragan-K1 #2 (Nr. 12 or 12L) or Blok K2s (and the previous as Uragan-K1 #1 (Nr. 11)). Why the 11 number? And the K series is also separated in launch bloks by launch with the last letter denoting the launch vehicle?
