Congratulations to SpaceX and the USAF for the successful launch of OTV-5! Do we really have to wait nearly a month to see the next one? :-)

Two objects catalogued, 2017-052A/42932 OTV 5/USA 277 and 2017-052B/42933 Falcon rocket.  Thought the latter was supposed to de-orbit after deploying payload?

I wonder if that instantaneous puff of condensation at 6:52 in addition to those more persistent vapor streaks at the base is the moment it crossed Mach 1.

As an update, we're told the booster is off the LZ-1 pad via their expedited post landing processing which was initiated for the previous landing (CRS-12: The faster processing was a L2 note. Chris G asked Hans. Hans confirmed).

Great work by the LZ-1 team.

Wonder what can be said about such a circular higher inclination orbit, other than it’s good for landing back at the Cape.

Surprising that it seems like it hasn't manuveured much, given that its orbit still lines up w/in 2° of longitude of its launch time at the Cape. Or is 2° a lot?

Last night's pass of the OTV 5 about 11 and half minutes before the end of nautical twilight. Also captured an occultation of OTV 5 over Alpha Lyncis. This was also a testing out of our new Revolution Imager R2 system. 30 mm setting on zoom lens, frame rate 1/25th of second, f/2 captured to a mini DVR.  The recovery of OTV 5 took 211 day for the amature satellite observing  community.

The secret X-37B/#OTV5 space plane passing over the Netherlands earlier this evening. It changed its orbit earlier in the week, and the amateur satellite tracking network has been hard at work determining its new, lower, orbit.

Is there any known operational reason why the two OTVs cannot have overlapping flights?
