Kenny Todd: NASA will conduct a parallel investigation, with input from the Russian investigation to be of "paramount" importance in conducting a NASA FRR on a Soyuz RTF.
Reid Wiseman, Deputy Chief Astronaut: Abort was automatically triggered.
Later in Q&A, he describes the abort process.

Q&A: What happens to Nick Hague's NASA career/future flights?
No promises made, but Kenny Todd praises his career thus far.
What about de-crewing ISS?
Kenny Todd: That is always a contingency. If systems continue to operate, and because of redundancies, it could operate without a crew for "significant time." No specific length of time given.

Q: Would a Soyuz RTF be done without a NASA astronaut?
Kenny Todd, paraphrasing: No. That's not what the partnership is about.
Q: How long will the investigation(s) take? Does NASA have to pay for this launch?
Kenny Todd: Depends on the circumstances, giving no estimate. Assures (again) that he's sure the Russians will investigate thoroughly.
Defers answer on payment, unsure of particulars.
Q about "go fever."
Kenny Todd responds about watching for and fighting "go fever." If someone is not comfortable with the process: "There are dissension paths."
Q&A about CCP's role in maintaining/recovering full functionality of ISS.
Q follow-up on approx. 34-minute abort timeline, where are the astronauts now and what are they doing?
Reid Wiseman: Notification of anomaly to abort initiation less than 1 second, accompanied by G-force of capsule separation, followed by free-fall. Russian mission control instructed crew to initiate ballistic re-entry, which they did. Commented about SAR response during descent and after touch-down.
Astronauts (astronaut and cosmonaut?) are with their families and under medical observation.
